Being the Journey

All the Buddhas of all the ages have been telling you a very simple fact: Be — don’t try to become. Within these two words, be and becoming, your whole life is contained. Being is enlightenment, becoming is ignorance. Osho

So if you’re already perfect just the way you are, why is there an urge to become someone, something? Why does the search for fulfillment continue in the physical world?

Aside from the obvious needs that are required for our physical sustenance the sticky spot seems to be the area of wants. Sometimes wants feel like the mirage of an oasis in the desert, you can see it from a distance but once you get there you realize it’s not real. From this perspective becoming is certainly ignorance, but it is a not knowing of your true self.

Enlightenment is true knowing. It is the outflow of beingness from your true self. Yet the adventure to knowing is often traversed through the unknowing of surface of awareness. In these dense spaces you come to experience yourself in the deeper chasm of awareness. It is because of the friction at the top layer of consciousness that you are willing to plumb the depths of your being.

Honor whichever road takes you to your core. Suspend judgment and know that a new road always arises as you experience a shift in being. At some point you forget about the destination and enjoy the being of it.
