Self expression is a function of responsibility. Werner Erhard
Do you hesitate or hold back from expressing who you are in certain situations or with certain people? Who are you being when you are ‘just you’ . . . when no one is watching or judging? How would it feel to be able to do that anywhere, anytime?
Whether you feel you’re fully unleashed or clamped down on your self expression, I invite you to explore where in your life you are being ‘not you.’ It’s pretty sneaky how this aspect of limiting your self expression may show up in areas you might not have imagined. Look for behaviors that change, depending on who is around you or where you are:
It could show up as a disparity between how you eat at home and how you eat when you’re out with friends or at a social gathering.
It could be the difference between ‘who you are’ with your friends or your family and partner.
It could be how you are at work or when you are enjoying your hobbies.
I’m not talking about the obvious differences between these situations. I’m talking about how you show up differently. Are you open or are you constricted? Do you watch your language? Is your energy lower?
If it doesn’t light you up, maybe you should’nt show up! This could call for some drastic changes, but then it’s your life . . . aren’t you worth it?
