Connie Ragen Green gave us some great guidelines for generating income with affiliate marketing. There are no ‘get rich quick schemes’ here, but in just 1-2 months you can start creating an income stream for yourself with these foundational steps:

1. Choose your niche. Make sure to find the sweet spot between your passionate interest, your experience and expertise and where people are already spending money. [Connie mentioned at least 5 hot niches on the call.]

2. Start a blog and create compelling content. Share your point of view, do product reviews and case studies. Make it personal and in your voice!
3. Find products that meet your market’s needs. Think of yourself as a problem solver and provide your readers with tips and solutions on any and all problems related to their needs.

4. Build your following by creating a relationship with your market. Provide an opt-in box on your site with access to a valuable video or special report in exchange for their email address. Look to connect with quality prospects, not numbers.

5. Generate traffic using articles and social media. Blog posts can be turned into articles and broken down into tweets and facebook posts. Connect with other bloggers in your niche and leave comments on their blogs. Be the first to offer a testimonial. All of these are organic and long term strategies to create trusted relationships that will naturally bring the ‘right people’ to your site.

6. Only promote products or programs you’ve purchased and recommend what you love. Become the trusted resource and advisor for your market and niche.

Connie shared that the top two mistakes she often sees in affiliate marketing is that folks try to be too diverse or they give up to easily. Dig in for the long haul and your income will flow, your business will grow and your reach will expand.
